Ruby Dixie is a line of hand-made, beautiful, sparkly and trashy treasures  made by me, jakki pransky. i started the company with a stall at london's spitalfields market in the summer of 2003 after working for many years as a buyer for vintage clothing company dollyrockers.

growing up in california's san fernando valley in the 1980's, i used to skip school with my friends to scour the thrift and second hand stores for vintage treasure. i would then make things from the jewelry, badges and whatever else i managed to find and sell them to friends and all the cool kids i'd meet in my favorite clubs and hang outs.

in my mid-teens, i went into culture shock when i moved to montana to live with my dad on a rabbit ranch. i literally went from valley girl to trailer trash overnight. i was living in a " single wide" and  cleaned up after nearly 2000 rabbits as i dreamed of something a little more glamorous!

music and fashion have always been of huge importance to me. i spent my early 20's running around on the arms of rockers...(famous and infamous!)  when i moved to england in 1994, i combined my love of both by working as a stylist for up and coming bands.

i am a believer in originality and decided to start ruby dixie for the same reason so many decide to "do it themselves"... i could never find cool or interesting pop culture jewelry to mirror the clothing i loved to wear. i wanted to create things that were different to the cliquish offerings of main stream fashion and that had some sort of history to them. i love that a lot of the charms and findings i use are still pristine and beautiful after spending over 30 years in a box on a dusty shelf somewhere and have now found a new life.

my love of thrifting and collecting has seen me and my flat featured on a few programs as well as a few newspapers and magazines. my old flat was featured in the book "kitsch deluxe". most recently, my boyfriend scott and i were on the programme "location location location" and were found the most amazing house in the seaside town St. leonards on sea by phil, kirstie and co.!

the jewelry i make is inspired by my life...my childhood, music i love, beautiful things ...and, also by the waitress at my favorite truck stop diner back in montana...ruby dixie...she always had the coolest, trashy jewelry!

one of a kind...

although i use a mixture of old and new charms, a lot of the charms that i use are vintage. over the years i have been making jewellery, i have amassed an amazing collection of charms, pendants, chain and other bits and pieces. because i use a lot of vintage pieces, a good portion of the jewellery is one of a kind.  if there is a piece that you like that has been sold, please do get in touch wih me because i might be able to make something very similar apart from a few charms. i am also very happy to do custom orders if there is a special occassion or particular themed piece you are looking for.
